This is a great opportunity to start off 2012 for our continuing students, returning students and for brand new students! Please help us to promote our drumming classes. You can be our best source to let people know about how we enjoy in learning music together. Class descriptions are below.
"Samba Batucada" drumming ensemble class. All Brazilian instruments are provided. This class is open to all levels of experience including those with no prior experience.
Learn about one of the most powerful drumming traditions from Brasil. We always have a really great time in our classes!!
Conga drumming technique and rhythms with Jimmy Biala
This class will focus on the importance of proper approach and technique for playing the Conga drum.
An emphasis will be placed on correct hand technique for playing conga drums, rhythm analysis and development.
The class will be taught in ensemble format and will be paced for students with little or no experience.
Students should bring one conga drum if possible. A limited number of drums will be available to borrow for the class.
Conga class fees per session ( 5 classes)- $75. Single class/ drop-in fee $25

Jimmy Biala Bography:
Percussionist Jimmy Biala is originally from the San Francisco Bay Area. He has studied music at San Jose State University, California,the University of Matanzas, Cuba and the Oficina Investigacao Musica, Salvador Bahia, Brazil.
Jimmy taught Cuban and Brazilian percussion at Santa Clara University 1999-2006 and taught Brazilian percussion in Taiwan to youth students in 12 Taiwanese Aboriginal Tribes from 2005-2007 and completed a 3 year artist in residency in Beijing 2007-2010 where he founded the SambAsia Beijing samba school, the only drumming ensemble dedicated to Brazilian percussion study in China.
Jimmy now resides in the San Francisco Bay Area of California presenting percussion workshops and performances throughout the United States, Canada, Europe and Asia. jimmybiala@gmail.com 408-594-8123.
Percussion Bahia Style "Samba Reggae, Samba Afro" with Abel Damasceno
Sundays 3:00pm to 4:30pm except first Sunday of the month
from March 11th to April 22nd

Abel's Biography:
Abel Damasceno is a native of Salvador the capital of Bahia, he arrived in the Bay Area in 2007 and have been studding music since age of 12. Abel Performs with several bands in the Bay Area and he has discovered a passion for teaching Brazilian percussion to students of all levels. His main focus is in Bahia style such as Samba-Reggae, Samba-Afro and Samba de Roda.
