2nd Annual Capoeira Mandinga Kid's Camp Session 2 Pre-Camp Training Session 2 Date: Monday August 2 Time: 11a - 2p Cost: $50 Capoeira Mandinga Kid's Camp Session 2 (For kids ages 6 and up) Camp Dates: August 3-7 Camp Hours: Tue-Friday, 9a - 3p, Saturday 12p-3p Cost: $225 $200 for siblings for full camp week. $50 for single day ($60 for same day drop-ins) Families can take advantage of our extended care program. Extended care is available daily from 7 - 9am and 3pm-6pm *Please email Instrutor Sumido at sumidomandinga@gmail.com if you are interested in before/after care for these camp days. Mandinga Camp Overview The camp offers a five high-energy (6 days including the Pre-Camp on Monday August 2nd 10a-2p), excitement-filled days, with classes taught by accomplished and dedicated instructors. Training and rodas will be supplemented by a variety of fun and engaging activities exploring the art of capoeira. Additional Activities -Music and Singing classes -Traditional Brazilian dances (Samba de Roda, Maculele, Puxada de Rede) -Capoeira art -Instrument making -Kid's games from Brasil -Portuguese instruction Parents are encouraged to participate during any camp classes, and in our daily camp rodas. Students will participate in camp activities as a group, occasionally separating into smaller sections for targeted training according to level or for buddy activities where more advanced students partner with beginning students for fun activities. Beginners (0 – 2 years in capoeira) will focus on the basics of capoeira movements, and fundamentals of music (singing the chorus in songs, clapping with the rhythm). Instructors will stress safety in training, and traditional rules of conduct while playing in the roda. Intermediate Students (2 – 4 years in capoeira) Already familiar with basic movements and songs, will focus on playing capoeira with expression. Instructors will teach the safe applications of take-downs and floreio (acrobatic movements). Advanced Students (4+ years in capoeira) Will practice advanced capoeira trainings as partners: Students will discuss with their instructors the challenges of playing in the roda, and begin to develop their personality within capoeira. |
